Pale lemon colour with hints of gold; peach and lemon on the nose with lots of wet rock minerality and a great deal of new, toasty oak - far too much in my opinion. The mouth is pretty disjointed, unbalanced and tart, zinging acidity with prominent oak hides most of the other flavours. Not great. (04/10)
Deep golden yellow forward open nose all buttery brioche - palette rich creamy but very fresh complete and balanced with very fresh acidity - good length - superb village level wine
Pale gold - Subdued but pleasant nose subtle savoury notes honeysuckle straw and almost chablis like minerality - fresh on palette but quite restrained style lovely balance suprisingly subtle and elegant and very minerally - very good village level wine drinking perfectly now - very nice
Bright yellow gold - restrained but complex on the nose honey lemon citrus and honeysuckle floral - med body great balance poised very pure style - fresh pebbly minerality with perfectly integrated oak splendid wine as you would hope for the price
Creamy buttery brioche nose with hints of spice - med to full body with just enough acidity to keep in balance - quite burly but soft and easy on the finish, reasonably good length - not particularly complex but nice drinking style
Bright straw gold - very fresh popcorn and butter nose, medium body, high acidity broad and attacking on the palette with a pleasant subtly nuttiness, long finish - nice
Domaine Thierry et Pascale Matrot, Meursault-Charmes - very young,
though still very good, I decanted it at home for 1.5 hours and
re-bottled it, and then it was taken out of the fridge 0.5 hours before
serving (in a warm house) around 3 hours after opening. It was still
pretty tight and unevolved, but it has all the constituents to make a
great wine - good acid levels, intense aromas and flavours of fruit and
oak that need time to integrate - and in time I believe it will make a
very fine, rich wine. (02/10)
Amazing wine - 6 or 7 bottles seen with some bottle variation, slight oxidation in some but all excellent and the best completely clean - bright gold, a youthful honeyed tone, with a white flower blossom and roast hazelnut nose, extraordinary palette so fresh and elegant - lovely balance of focused acidity and structure - complex and complete with great length - decanting (caraffing) the wine can see a slight decline in some bottles after 1/2 an hour or so but with the better bottles is well worth the improved development - a magnificent white burgundy from one of my favourite producers
